Wrist warmers can look like such a small addition that it is easy to wonder how much difference they will make. Yet many of our customers tell us how pleasantly surprised they are by the warmth of their wristlets, even when they were not quite convinced before trying them.
That is often followed by a recommendation to a friend, or another pair bought as a gift. It is one of the loveliest things to hear: something simple has become something they want other people to enjoy.
If you are choosing between wristlets and fingerless gloves, start with where you want the coverage. Our sheepskin wristlets wrap around the wrists, while our fingerless sheepskin gloves cover the hands and wrists, leaving the finger ends free.
Why customers are surprised by wrist warmers
You might expect to need a full glove to notice any warmth. But the feedback we hear about wristlets is that this small extra layer can make a welcome difference to how comfortable customers feel.
Our genuine sheepskin wrist warmers are three inches wide, with soft wool against the wrist and an adjustable Velcro fastening. Think of them as an extra cuff: something to try with your favourite knitwear when you would rather leave your hands uncovered.
We would not suggest that a wristlet does the same job as a full glove. The appeal is that you can add a little warmth without choosing something that covers your whole hand.
Wristlets or fingerless gloves?
The names are sometimes used interchangeably, so it is worth looking at the shape rather than relying on the label. Within our range, these are two different designs.
- Wristlets: Our wraparound wrist warmers fasten at the wrist with Velcro. Consider these if you want a woolly cuff and prefer to keep your hands uncovered.
- Fingerless gloves: Our ladies’ fingerless sheepskin gloves extend over the hand, with open finger ends and an adjustable wrist strap. Consider these if you would like more coverage while still being able to use your phone, turn a page or handle your keys.
There is no need to choose the larger style simply because it looks warmer. Start with the extra coverage you actually want, and the activities you want to carry on doing while wearing it.
A small gift with a personal recommendation behind it
Many customers are so happy with their wristlets that they go on to recommend them to others and buy them as gifts. Having tried them themselves, they know why this apparently modest accessory is worth passing on.
For someone who appreciates practical comforts, that makes a thoughtful starting point. Rather than choosing a gift just because it looks cosy, you are choosing something that other wearers have enjoyed enough to recommend.
Do take a moment to check the fit before buying for somebody else. The wristlet size guide uses wrist circumference, whereas the fingerless glove guide uses a measurement around the hand.
New colours: dark brown and tan merino lambskin
We now offer two new colours in soft merino lambskin with soft brushed wool. One is dark brown and the other is tan.
Please check the wristlet product page for the colours and sizes currently available to order.
Choosing your pair
Begin with the fit, then think about how you would like to wear them. A comfortable cuff with knitwear may be all you are looking for; if you want wool over more of your hand, compare the fingerless style before deciding.
Our wristlets are handmade in our Suffolk workshop, as are our fingerless sheepskin gloves. They are two different ways to enjoy the care and natural materials that go into these small, useful pieces.
Questions about wristlets
Do wrist warmers really make a difference?
Many of our customers tell us they do, and that they were surprised by how warm their wristlets felt. That is customer feedback rather than a promise that everybody will feel the same, but it is a lovely reason to give this small accessory a closer look.
Are wristlets the same as fingerless gloves?
Not in our range: the wristlets cover the wrist, while the fingerless gloves extend over the hand. Choose according to the coverage you prefer.
Can I buy the new merino lambskin colours now?
The dark brown and tan wristlets are currently being made. Please check the live wristlet listing rather than assuming the new colours are available yet.
